9 February 2010

At the end of October of this year a new wholesale trade centre of the well-known Company Metro Cash and Carry was opened in Astana. The President of Kazakhstan carried out the formal opening ceremony on 27 October and the doors were open to customers on the 29th October.

The company has got trade centres all over the world, including Russia and Ukraine.
Despite the fact that the capital city has plenty of trade centres, the new centre attracted attention of many thousands of people, who besieged the shop during the first 3-4 days!

There are plans to open some more trade centres in cities Almaty, Karaganda and Shymkent soon.

Opening of the trade centre in Astana required qualified security services and senior management of Kazakhstani branch of Metro Cash & Carry chose G4S Kazakhstan as their security provider.

The official opening at the end of October was the culmination of months of preparation, not just for shop staff, but also for the security personnel. During the past few months working practices have been developed to best meet client needs and over the coming months there will be other changes needed as the customer volumes become clearer and local nuisances of cash and carry customers become fully understood by both Metro and G4S K personnel.

During the opening week for the Cash and Carry, Regional director of security department of Metro Cash & Carry Vitaly Garmash (from Russia) was able to see G4S K work at first hand. He was pleased with the progress being made.

Security of trade centres is a new and interesting direction in our company’s activity and is a kind of catalyst for new ideas and experience in security activity, which will allow us widening sphere of services provided and raising it to higher level and quality. There is also much scope for us to introduce systems and procedures through our connection with the G4S worldwide network of companies and close cooperation with Metro Regional security department.
